Private Grand Safari · 22 Nights / 23 Days
Johannesburg · Cape Town · Victoria Falls · Tarangire · Ngorongoro · The Serengeti · Mara River
August is the single best month for this grand safari. In Tanzania, the dry season is at its peak — wildlife concentrates around water sources, vegetation is low for maximum game visibility, and the Great Migration is in full flow at the Mara River with near-daily wildebeest crossings. In South Africa and Zimbabwe, August brings clear skies, cool and comfortable temperatures, and ideal conditions for city tours, Cape Peninsula drives, and the Victoria Falls at a spectacular mid-season level. Book early — August is the most sought-after safari month across all three destinations.
This is Africa's greatest journey in a single itinerary. Begin in Johannesburg, discover the drama of Cape Town and Table Mountain, witness the thundering power of Victoria Falls, then cross into Tanzania for a safari that moves through Tarangire's ancient elephant corridors, down into the floor of Ngorongoro's cathedral crater, across the golden plains of the central Serengeti, and all the way north to the Mara River — where the Great Migration crosses in one of nature's most breathtaking spectacles.
Twenty-three days. Seven extraordinary destinations. One seamless, private journey through the very best of Southern and East Africa.

If the cable car is not running, Signal Hill provides a spectacular alternative viewpoint.

Witness the legendary meeting of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans, visit the Boulders Beach Penguin Colony at Simon's Town (own account), and stop at Rhodes Memorial for a final panoramic farewell over Cape Town.
Day Six
Cape Town · Day at Leisure
After breakfast the day is entirely yours. Explore world-class restaurants along the waterfront, browse the Cape Malay markets of Bo-Kaap, arrange a wine tour through the Stellenbosch or Franschhoek Winelands, or walk the scenic Sea Point promenade — Cape Town on your own terms and pace.
Day Seven
Cape Town → Victoria Falls
Transfer to Cape Town Airport for your flight north to Victoria Falls. Upon arrival you are met and transferred to your lodge. This evening, embark on a magical Sundowner Cruise on the mighty Zambezi — spot hippo, crocodile, elephant, and spectacular birdlife as the African sun melts into the horizon. Finger snacks are served on board amid some of Africa's most dramatic sunsets.
Day Eight
Guided Tour of the Falls
After breakfast at 09h00 your qualified guide leads you through the rainforest at the edge of the falls (approx. 2 hrs, all Zimbabwe park fees included). A UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World — 150 million years old and thundering with a force heard from 40 km away. Your guide shares the history, flora, fauna, birdlife, and wildlife of this extraordinary place, and is on hand to help you capture the perfect image.
Day Nine
Victoria Falls · Day at Leisure
After breakfast the day is yours. Optional activities abound — bungee jumping from the Victoria Falls Bridge (111 m), white-water rafting on the Zambezi's Grade 5 rapids, a microlight flight over the falls, elephant encounters in the bush, or simply a leisurely afternoon at the lodge overlooking the river as the late afternoon light turns everything gold.
Day Ten
Victoria Falls → Johannesburg
After a final breakfast at the falls, transfer to Victoria Falls Airport for your flight back to Johannesburg. Upon arrival at OR Tambo, you are privately transferred to your hotel for a comfortable overnight stay — tomorrow your Tanzania adventure begins.
Day Eleven
Johannesburg → Dar es Salaam → Kilimanjaro → Arusha
After breakfast, transfer to OR Tambo Airport for your international flight to Dar es Salaam, then a connecting flight to Kilimanjaro International Airport. Upon arrival you are met and transferred to the Serena Mountain Village in Tengeru, Arusha — a beautifully designed lodge set within lush tropical gardens on the slopes of Mount Meru, overlooking Kilimanjaro. Spend the evening relaxing and acclimatising ahead of tomorrow's safari departure.
Day Twelve
Arusha → Tarangire National Park
After breakfast your safari begins in earnest. Depart Arusha southward for Tarangire National Park — Tanzania's most underrated gem. Tarangire is renowned for its extraordinary elephant concentrations and ancient baobab trees that dot the landscape like living sculptures. The Tarangire River acts as a magnet for wildlife during the dry season — lion, leopard, cheetah, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, and over 550 recorded bird species share these golden plains. Afternoon game drive before settling into your tented camp beside the river.
Day Thirteen
Full Day · Tarangire National Park
A full day to explore Tarangire at its finest. Set out at dawn for the golden morning light — the time when big cats are most active and elephants gather at the river to drink. Return to camp for a midday rest, then head out again in the afternoon as the park comes alive once more. The Silale Swamp area is particularly rewarding, attracting enormous concentrations of wildlife and offering some of the most spectacular game viewing in Tanzania.
Day Fourteen
Tarangire → Ngorongoro
After a final morning game drive and breakfast, depart north toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The drive itself is spectacular — climbing through the lush highlands of the Crater Rim, past Maasai villages and sweeping highland vistas, before descending into Ngorongoro Farm House — an enchanting country retreat set within a working coffee plantation on the slopes of Oldeani Volcano, with sweeping views over the rolling farmland and the Crater Highlands beyond.
Day Fifteen
Full Day · Ngorongoro Crater
A full day on the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater — a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Africa's most extraordinary natural arenas. Descend 600 metres into this ancient collapsed volcano, home to over 25,000 animals in a contained ecosystem: lion prides in the open grasslands, the critically endangered black rhino, vast buffalo herds, the spotted hyena clans that dominate the crater, hippos in the soda lakes, and flamingos that turn the shallows pink. Picnic lunch is served on the crater floor amid the wildlife.
Day Sixteen
Ngorongoro → Central Serengeti
After breakfast, depart west across the Ngorongoro highlands and descend onto the boundless golden plains of the Serengeti. Game viewing begins immediately as you enter the park — the central Seronera area is one of Tanzania's most wildlife-rich zones year-round. By late afternoon arrive at Signature Serengeti, an intimate tented camp deep in the central Serengeti — its canvas suites are designed in the spirit of classic East African safari, with private verandas opening onto the unspoilt savannah. Sundowners around the fire as the Serengeti sky turns crimson.
Day Seventeen
Full Day · Central Serengeti
A full day to immerse yourself in the wonder of the central Serengeti. The Seronera area is famous for its leopard sightings — the fig tree valley along the Seronera River holds some of the highest leopard densities on the continent. Dawn game drives catch lions returning from the night hunt. Cheetah are often spotted scanning the open plains from termite mounds. Return to Signature Serengeti for a midday rest, then head out again for an evening drive into the golden magic hour.
Day Eighteen
Central Serengeti · Second Full Day
A second full day in the central Serengeti to explore further afield — venture into the western corridor or the Moru Kopjes, a dramatic rock formation rising from the plains where lion and leopard frequently rest in the cool of the boulders. The kopjes are also home to rock hyrax and a rich diversity of raptors. Today is a day for discoveries — the Serengeti has a way of always offering something unexpected around the next corner.
Day Nineteen
Central Serengeti → North Serengeti
After an early breakfast, begin the spectacular drive north through the Serengeti — the landscape gradually shifting as you approach the Lobo area and the wild northern reaches of the park. Game viewing is continuous en route. By afternoon arrive at Karibu Camp on the banks of the Mara River — an intimate, exclusive camp positioned at one of the most productive crossing points of the Great Migration. Settle in as the sounds of the Mara fill the evening air.
Day Twenty
Full Day · Mara River — Great Migration
This is what Africa dreams are made of. A full day stationed at the Mara River during the wildebeest migration — arguably the greatest wildlife spectacle on earth. Over 1.5 million wildebeest and hundreds of thousands of zebra make this desperate, adrenaline-charged crossing through Nile crocodile-infested waters. Your guide positions you at the optimal crossing point. Between crossings, the north Serengeti offers outstanding resident wildlife — lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant, and the massive buffalo herds that draw predators in their hundreds.
Day Twenty-One
Final Day · Mara River
A final full day in Tanzania's most remote and wildest corner. Rise before dawn for the best light and the most undisturbed game viewing — the Mara River banks at first light are extraordinary. The northern Serengeti has a different energy from the south — vast, raw, and uncompromising. Spend the day absorbing every detail: the sound of the river, the dust kicked up by a thousand hooves, the low growl of a lion in the distance. Tonight, savour a final dinner under an infinite sky of stars.
Day Twenty-Two
North Serengeti → Fly → Arusha
After a final sunrise breakfast at Karibu Camp, transfer to the nearest bush airstrip for your charter flight back to Arusha — a spectacular low-level flight over the Serengeti plains offering one final, unforgettable aerial perspective of the landscape you have spent the last days exploring. Upon arrival in Arusha, transfer to the Serena Mountain Village in Tengeru for your last night in Tanzania — a peaceful highland retreat to reflect on an extraordinary journey.
Day Twenty-Three
Departure · Arusha → Home
After a leisurely final breakfast at the Mountain Village, your private transfer delivers you to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward flight home. You leave with memories that will last a lifetime — the roar of the Zambezi, the silence of the Ngorongoro Crater, lion prides at dawn on the Serengeti, and the thundering chaos of the Mara River crossing. Until next time, Africa.
