Privacy Policy

Last updated: 27 September 2026. This policy covers all English-language pages of sokweafricasafari.com. The German landing page has its own Datenschutzerklärung, since it names a different set of processing purposes.

1. Who we are

We are a Tanzanian company, so data we hold is also processed in Tanzania. Where that is necessary to answer your enquiry, we rely on it being a step you asked us to take before any contract (taking pre-contractual measures at your request).

2. Hosting and server logs

This site is hosted by Hostinger International Ltd. (Cyprus) and served through a content delivery network. Visiting a page makes the server process technically necessary data: IP address, date and time, the page requested, and browser type. This rests on our legitimate interest in running the site securely and reliably.

3. Fonts

On this page, and on our German landing page, the fonts (Cormorant Garamond, Inter, Great Vibes) load from our own server — no connection to Google Fonts is made. On most other English pages of the site, fonts are still loaded from Google Fonts, which sends your device's IP address to Google when the page loads. We are in the process of moving every page to self-hosted fonts; until that is finished, treat this as an open item rather than a completed one.

4. Enquiry forms

When you fill in a form on this site, we process the details you enter: name, email address, phone/WhatsApp number, travel date, group size, and any message you add. We use it only to answer your enquiry and prepare a quote.

The details are emailed to our team in Arusha and kept in our enquiry system on the server. We keep it for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and any booking that follows, and afterwards only as long as we are required to.

Spam protection: to stop abuse of the form, we briefly record how many submissions come from your connection each hour. This rests on our legitimate interest in keeping the form usable.

5. WhatsApp

Some pages link to WhatsApp. No connection to WhatsApp is made until you click one of those links. Clicking opens WhatsApp (WhatsApp Ireland Ltd. / Meta) and your message is then exchanged with us through that service, under its own privacy terms.

6. Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads (only with your consent)

With your explicit consent we use Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads conversion measurement (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland; parent company Google LLC, USA). This measures how the site is used and whether our advertising leads to enquiries. It sets cookies or similar identifiers and sends data to Google — including your IP address, device and browser information, pages visited and interactions such as clicking a package or submitting a form — including transfers to the USA.

Without your consent, the Google code is not loaded and no data is sent to Google. The legal basis is your consent. For transfers to the USA, Google relies on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Changing your mind: you can change your decision at any time via the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page. Withdrawing consent takes effect going forward.

7. Storing your cookie choice

We store your choice (accept / decline) in your browser's local storage (localStorage, key sokwe_consent_v1), so you are not asked again on every visit. This is technically necessary to carry out your decision, and the same key is shared with our German landing page, since it is the same site.

8. Third-party widgets and links

Some pages (the homepage, Contact, Zanzibar, Kilimanjaro and Accommodation) embed a TripAdvisor reviews widget, which loads automatically when the page loads and may set its own cookies, under TripAdvisor's own privacy terms. Other pages only link out to TripAdvisor, Instagram and Facebook; no connection to those services is made until you click the link.

9. Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict the processing of, receive a copy of, and object to the use of your data. You can withdraw a consent you have given at any time, with effect for the future, by writing to info@sokweafricasafari.com.

You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority, for example the one where you live.

10. Changes

We update this policy when the site or the law changes. The version published here is the current one.
