Tarangire National Park

Tanzania's Hidden Gem

Baobabs, Elephants & Untouched Wilderness

Tarangire National Park is one of Tanzania's most underrated and rewarding safari destinations. Tucked into the northern circuit between Arusha and Lake Manyara, this vast, beautiful park is defined by its ancient baobab trees — enormous, centuries-old giants that punctuate the landscape with a prehistoric grandeur found nowhere else on Earth.

Tarangire is famous for harbouring Tanzania's largest elephant population outside the Serengeti. During the dry season (June–October), the Tarangire River becomes the only water source for hundreds of kilometres, drawing extraordinary concentrations of elephant, buffalo, wildebeest, zebra, giraffe, and lion to its banks in numbers that rival any park in Africa.

With far fewer visitors than the Serengeti or Ngorongoro, Tarangire offers an authentically intimate safari experience — open vehicles, experienced Sokwe Africa guides, and the feeling of having the wilderness entirely to yourself.

Best Time to Visit Tarangire

Tarangire rewards visitors throughout the year, but the dry season (June–October) is truly exceptional. As water sources dry up across the region, the Tarangire River becomes a magnet for wildlife — drawing the greatest concentrations of elephant and large mammals anywhere in northern Tanzania.

The green season (November–May) brings lush landscapes, migratory birds, and newborn animals — ideal for photographers seeking dramatic scenery and intimate encounters. Our team will help you choose the perfect time based on your interests.
