Safari Overview
Lion. Leopard. Elephant. Buffalo. Rhino. The five most iconic creatures on the African continent — and Tanzania is one of the few places on earth where you can encounter all five in a single safari. This classic 5–8 day itinerary takes you through three of Tanzania's most wildlife-rich parks: the ancient elephant herds of Tarangire, the vast predator-filled Serengeti, and the extraordinary Ngorongoro Crater where black rhino still roam. Guided by our expert team, this is Tanzania at its most essential.

Day 1
The Safari Begins
Your guide meets you at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfers you to your Arusha lodge. Set against the backdrop of Mount Meru, Arusha is the safari capital of Tanzania — a vibrant gateway city full of energy and anticipation. The evening is yours to settle in, meet your guide and receive a full briefing on the extraordinary days ahead. Tomorrow, the bush awaits.

Day 2
The Land of Giants
A short morning drive brings you to Tarangire National Park — home to Tanzania's largest elephant herds and one of the most underrated safari destinations on the continent. Ancient baobab trees tower over sun-dried floodplains where thousands of animals congregate along the Tarangire River. By afternoon you are deep in elephant country, watching herds of 50, 100 and more move through the landscape like living shadows.

Day 3
The Endless Plains
Depart Tarangire and drive north-west into the Serengeti — Tanzania's most iconic and celebrated national park. The landscape opens into a vast sea of golden grass stretching to every horizon. Your destination is the Seronera Valley, the wildlife heart of the park and home to one of the highest leopard densities anywhere in Africa. An afternoon game drive introduces you to the lions, cheetahs and herds that call this endless landscape home.

Day 4
Lions, Leopards & the Open Plains
A full day devoted entirely to the Serengeti. Dawn breaks with the sounds of hyenas calling and lions returning to shade. Your guide knows where to find the leopard that has rested in the same fig tree for a week, the pride of lions sleeping away the midday heat on a kopje, and the cheetah mother teaching her cubs to hunt. By sunset — after a day of encounters too many to count — you understand why the Serengeti is considered the greatest wildlife ecosystem on earth.

Day 5
The World's Greatest Natural Arena
Drive east from the Serengeti to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, climbing through the Crater Highlands past Maasai villages and sweeping views. The crater rim at dawn is one of the most breathtaking vistas in Africa. You descend 600 metres into the caldera — the world's largest intact volcanic caldera — where 25,000 animals live in a self-contained ecosystem. Black rhino, lion prides, buffalo herds, spotted hyenas and flamingo-fringed soda lakes await. This is where the Big Five truly comes together.

Day 6
Tanzania Stays With You
After a final breakfast with views across the crater highlands, your guide transfers you back to Arusha for your onward flight from Kilimanjaro International. Days 7 and 8 are available for optional extensions — a Zanzibar beach stay, a Tarangire walking safari, or a Lake Manyara flamingo morning. Tanzania has a way of calling you back. We look forward to welcoming you again.
