The Smoke That Thunders

Known as Mosi-oa-Tunya — "the smoke that thunders" — Victoria Falls is one of the most awe-inspiring natural spectacles on earth. At 108 metres high and 1.7 kilometres wide, it is the world's largest sheet of falling water, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Our Victoria Falls safari packages include this extraordinary experience as part of a grand 23-day journey across South Africa, Zimbabwe and Tanzania.

What to Expect

Victoria Falls Highlights

01

Guided Rainforest Walk

Walk through the ancient rainforest created by the falls' constant spray — lush with ferns and towering trees — for a close-up view of the curtain of water and the gorge below. Your guide provides historical and geological context at every viewpoint.

02

Zambezi Sundowner Cruise

As the African sun sets over the Zambezi River, drift upstream on a private sundowner cruise. Hippos surface from the water, crocodiles bask on the banks, elephants cross at the shallows, and hundreds of birds fill the evening sky — all while you sip cold drinks on deck.

03

Adventure Activities

For those seeking an adrenaline rush, Victoria Falls offers the world's highest commercial bungee jump (111m from the Victoria Falls Bridge), Grade 5 white-water rafting through Batoka Gorge, microlight flights over the falls, and optional elephant encounters.
